Privacy Policy

Effective date: January 1, 2026. Last updated: January 1, 2026.

Overview

FitNik is a personal food and workout tracking application. This policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you use FitNik through an organization, your administrator may control certain settings and data access.

Information we collect

  • Account information: email address, name, and password (stored securely, never in plain text).
  • Profile and goals: height, weight, activity level, calorie and macro targets, and preferences you enter.
  • Food and workout logs: meals, portions, workouts, sets, weights, notes, and related timestamps.
  • Progress data: weight history, photos you upload, and charts derived from your logs.
  • Optional location: latitude and longitude only when you enable save workout location and log a workout.
  • Technical data: browser type, device type, and basic usage needed to operate and secure the service.

Device permissions

FitNik requests device access only when you choose a feature that needs it. All permissions are optional and opt in.

  • Camera: for barcode scanning and progress photos. Not used in the background.
  • Location: only when you enable save workout location in Profile and log a workout.
  • Notifications: only when you enable meal reminders in Profile.

How we use information

We use your information to provide the service: logging food and workouts, calculating totals, showing progress, sending optional reminders, and securing your account. We do not sell your personal information.

Third-party services

FitNik may query external food databases (such as USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts) when you search or scan barcodes. If your administrator configures integrations (such as Strava), data may be exchanged only when you connect that service. Third-party services have their own privacy policies.

Data storage and security

Your data is stored on servers operated for your FitNik instance. We use encryption in transit (HTTPS) and industry-standard practices to protect accounts and passwords. No system is perfectly secure; report concerns to your administrator.

Your choices

  • Update profile and preferences in the app at any time.
  • Turn off optional location, reminders, and integrations.
  • Export or delete data through Profile where available, or contact your administrator.

Children

FitNik is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date.
